Sunday Sketch & Stamp #1

Well, it's finally here - our first every challenge! Are you as excited as we are?

This is our first sketch, designed by Maggie Bob:

Sunday Sketch & Stamp: Challenge #1

You can put your sentiment anywhere on the card, and rotate it round, even change the oval for another shape like a circle, but the basic elements of the sketch must be obvious. and don't forget - you must use stamping somewhere!

If you take part in this fortnight's challenge, you could win this fabulous prize, provided by our wonderful sponsors from Crafty Ribbons, who really do have the most amazing collection of ribbons I've ever seen. They've given us this wonderful prize for one lucky person to win:

That's a set of 6 (count 'em - 6!) of Crafty Ribbon's RibbonBoxes! Wow!

To enter the challenge, simply make a card following the sketch, post it on your blog and post the direct link to it using Mr Linky below. Don't leave your entry in a comment, although feel free to leave a comment if you've got something to say! If you don't have a blog, email a picture of your card to sundaysketchandstamp@gmail.com and we'll put it in our online gallery, and enter you into the challenge. Entry closes at midnight (GMT) on Saturday May 9th - good luck.

Now, here are the wonderful DT cards to give you some inspiration.

We hope we've inspired you, and that you have as much fun with the sketch as we did!

*** Congratulations to our blog hop winners Debra, Katie, Carol, Jenni & Nicki. Your prizes will be on their way shortly ***

If you are entering the challenge, please put your name and a direct link to the post with your challenge card in to Mr Linky below. Please do not just link to the main page of your blog, as this makes it more difficult for us to find your card - thanks.

** Challenge #1 is now closed. Thank you for all your entries. The winner has been announced in the Challenge #2 post above. **

Meet The Team - Arianne

Hi, I'm Arianne from the Netherlands.
I'm a 40 year old, single, 1st grade teacher. The best job in the whole world!

Like most of you I started crafting when I was a little girl. Loved all of it, except drawing. Never got the neck of it.
For the longest time I spent all my time cross-stitching.
I still love to stitch, so almost all my cards and LOs include some (or a lot) stitching.

I love to work with sketches, because it saves me a lot of time! All the thinking has been done for me, so it saves me a lot of time. And as a teacher I don't always have enough of that!

Besides spending my time being creative I also love to ride my bike through our beautifull dutch scenery, love to watch movies and spent time with my friends and family.

I'm very excited to have been chosen for this DT.
I'm sure we all are going to have lots of fun together!

Meet The Team - Stephanie

My name is Stephanie, but I also go by Steph. I'm from Weston, Missouri, which is north of Kansas City. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Stephen, for 16 years! We have 3 sons, Devin - 16, Dylan - 14, and Xander - 8 and they keep us plenty busy, especially with Christian Youth Theater. I was blessed to be able to stay home with them for 12 years before I had to go find a job.

I have an MBA in Human Resources and Marketing. I love photography, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, and especially cardmaking! I also crochet and cross-stitch! My mom is a crafter and I was so lucky to grow up with her crafting and teaching me how to craft!:)

I am very much into graphic design, web design, and computers. I am in love with a little program called Poser! I am a Stampin' Up demonstrator and am having so much fun learning new techniques. I think the one tool I could not live without would be my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig! I LOVE IT! :) I'm so glad to be a part of this design team and so excited to get started!

Meet The Team - Ger

Hi my name is Geraldine or Ger for short, I am wife to Robert and mum to Matthew 11 & Abigail 6. I live in a beautiful village on the Moray coast with the beach right on my doorstep so in the summer we spend every spare minute there.
I have a very crafty family so I was introduced to many things from a very early age but when I got into my teens I rebelled and it wasn't until about 7 years ago I found a love of card making which then grew to a love of scrapbooking & beads, I also dabble in stain glass work, pottery and knitting. Last year I was lucky enough to open up my own craft shop which has always been my dream, so I now get to craft full time and play with a whole heap of goodies and I couldn’t be happier.
My main addiction is rubber stamps, I will spend hours stamping and colouring in with my copic markers, any chance I have to make cards always have rubber stamps used somewhere. I’m really thrilled to have been asked to join and so looking forward to working with the team and the great sketches coming up *Ü*

Meet The Team - Clare

Hi I'm Clare I'm from South Wales UK (no sheep jokes please..lol)
I'm married to my lovely Husband Dean,we have two boys together Jordan & Jake, and not forgetting my baby-Beau he's a 2yr old Bichon Frise.
Ive always been a crafty person esp when the boys have brought home projects from school .But it was only back last may 2008 that i started making cards for fun,for family and friends birthdays. And only recently i decided to take my cards in to work to sell....and they have been selling like hot cakes. And now Ive got orders from my work mates which is fantastic..and is building up my confidence.and what gives me the buz is seeing they faces when i hand them the cards they asked me to make.
My Fav technique at the moment is stamping and Digi stamping images coloured in with water coloured pencils. And keeping my card designs clean and crisp. But i just love discovering new techniques..i will try my hand at anything.I'm also a lover of sketches..i just think it makes it a lot easier for me to make a card quicker..esp when you've got a lot of orders to make.
So you can imagine how i felt when i was asked to join the DT for this fab challenge..my two fav technique's STAMPING AND SKETCHING .
My Dream would be to own my very own Craft shop so i can Craft all day + everyday and to sell such yummy craft goodies....but I'm still waiting for my numbers to come up on the Lottery..but maybe one day.
hugs to you all clare xx

Meet The Team - Barb

Hello! I am Barb and I am very excited to be on the first DT for Sunday Sketch and Stamp! Congratulations to my new team mates and, of course, many thanks to Maggie Bob, our fearless leader.

A bit about me: I have quite a diverse background, but I'll give just some highlights and focus on art and crafts. Five years ago I married my best friend and I have a grown son who is a Lt. Commander in the Navy

I was blessed to be born into a very artistic family and when I was growing up art in many forms was my focus. Then I had to go to work and art became a hobby at best. After growing up in the Midwest I found myself in Phoenix, Arizona, where I raised my son and worked in corporate management. Still art was a sideline, but I found myself scrapbooking my son's world travels. Soon I found myself using the scrapbooking styles on greeting cards.

Photography is equally important to me and I dived into that with the coming of digital. My photos often find their way onto cards, as well. (As for the photo above: I prefer to be behind the camera so this is a very rare shot!) Whatever art I am doing I love color, texture and interesting composition.

So, here I am in Branson, Missouri. We left Phoenix and the corporate life behind us in 2007 so I could get back to my first love --- art. Blogging is a huge part of my new endeavors, giving me a chance to reach all around the world meeting wonderful people with immense talents. What a blast!!

Challenge Launch Date!

Well, are you all eagerly anticipating the launch of our very first challenge? I know the team are, and we're all hard at work behind the scenes creating our first cards. I'm now very pleased to announce that we have set the date for the first challenge. Our first sketch will be available on Sunday April 26th.

Note the date in your diaries, write it on your hands, tie a knot in your hanky, but whatever you do, make sure you are here for the first ever challenge, not only to see the first DT cards, but also for your chance to win a fabulous prize (even I'm excited about it, and I can't win it).

In the meantime, we will be posting biographies of the DT up, so that you can get to know us. The first two are already up (check below), and I'll be adding a new one every day or so - so don't forget to check back.

xx

Meet The Team - Sem

Hey everyone! My name is Simonne, but in the blogging world I'm known as SemSee (Sem for short). If you're wondering how I came up with my blog name, well ... my dad used to call me 'Semolina' ('Sem' for short) when I was little and my surname begins with the letter C, and so I decided my blog name would be SemSee!

I live in the South West of England (UK) with my wonderful husband and our beautiful daughter. My other passion in life (apart from my family and card making) is the piano. I started lessons when I was 5 years old, went onto study music at University, and graduated with a degree in music in 1996 (now you can work out how old I am!). I was an original Take That fan, adore Cadbury's Creme Eggs, and love the sound of the sea.

I took up card making in December 2008 when I was randomly surfing the net for ideas for my mum's birthday and stumbled across a card making blog. I was so taken aback by the numerous beautiful creations that I decided to order some crafty stash and make a card for my mum! And the rest, as they say, is 'history'! I mainly make cards at the moment, but I would definitely like to have a go at scrapbooking and altering, oh, and I love discovering new techniques. I am addicted to stamps and patterned papers, and find it almost impossible to resist buying new releases! And I can't live without my Nesties and my precious Martha Stewart punches. My idea of crafting heaven is stamping and sketching, so SSS couldn't be more perfect for me! Woo hoo! ... Bring it on!

Meet The Team - Maggie Bob

Maggie Bob

Hi, I'm Maggie Bob. I was born in Paisely (Scotland), but now live in London (England). I'm married to Tim, and I started crafting after my husband took up photography (that's his photo of me here <--) and I became a 'hobby widow'. I used to craft all the time as a kid, often making collages out of household leftovers, and using fabric scraps to sew outfits for my troll dolls. The best thing about having discovered cardmaking is I also introduced my Mum to it, and as she lives about 400 miles away, it's nice to have a common hobby to keep us together.

Nowadays I mostly make cards, although I do dabble in sewing, and would like to try scrapbooking. My favourite part of making cards is creating layouts, and I'd be lost without my heat gun and clear embossing powder (as they help keep my colouring in neater!). I'm really looking forward to this new challenge, as I've only recently gotten in to stamping and am still discovering new techniques!
